Front Porch Ceiling Upgrade: Tongue & Groove Cedar Installation

For this project, I replaced the original vinyl soffit under the front porch with natural tongue and groove cedar planks. The goal was to enhance the entryway’s visual warmth and complement the existing craftsman-style architecture.

The process involved removing the old soffit, preparing the OSB substrate, and carefully installing each cedar board to ensure a clean, consistent grain alignment. I finished the edges with precise cuts around beams and the ceiling fan housing for a seamless, built-in appearance.

The result is a refined, natural wood ceiling that adds both texture and character to the home’s exterior while maintaining durability in Florida’s humid climate.
